Sumy Joseph, PhD, MBA, FACMG
President & Laboratory Director
Dr. Sumy Joseph is an ABMGG board-certified Clinical Molecular Geneticist. She earned her PhD from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, completed postdoctoral training in Genetics at Harvard Medical School in the Seidman Laboratory, and completed her Clinical Molecular Genetics fellowship at Greenwood Genetic Center.
Her longstanding interest in genetics centers on understanding the molecular pathways that underlie inherited disease and translating molecular findings into meaningful clinical information for patients and families. Her work has focused particularly on inherited cardiovascular disease and the integration of genetic testing into cardiovascular care.
Recognizing that scientific advances alone do not ensure access to genetic services, Dr. Joseph pursued an MBA in Healthcare Leadership to better understand the economic, operational, and reimbursement forces shaping genetic testing. She serves on the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics Economics Committee, contributing to work addressing reimbursement and economic issues affecting genetic services. Her work brings together molecular genetics, clinical application, healthcare economics, and leadership to advance sustainable access to genetic testing.
